The location in the Plaka is excellent! Just a block or two from restaurants and shops. A little grocery right next door. The room i had was sparce but sufficient. Great staff. Uber taxis can pick up and drop off right outside ( not so for some other accommodations in the Plaka).

Hotel was small but felt more like staying in someone's home instead of a commercial enterprise. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Everything (including the Acropolis) was within easy walking distance.

Property location was walkable to shopping and food. Room was adequate as most time was not spent in the room anyway. Room had a/c. Simple breakfast provided daily. Staff was friendly.

Heart of the Plaka at 1/4 the price!

If your goal is ease of walking around the Plaka neighborhood, Syntagma Square/Parliament, and the Acropolis, Nefeli is an excellent choice. Great central location near everything you want but just off the tourist streets, in a quieter neighborhood. (Tricky access by car, however!) Rooms were basic and comfortable. Price was great, considering the fantastic location. Other hotels in the neighborhood are all $40+ more expensive. There is a parking garage a few buildings away; street parking near the hotel is unlikely given the tight, old city streets. For travelers with no car, this hotel is ideal. Desk clerks were mainly helpful, some extremely so! Breakfast was a bit disappointing, given the huge spread most Greek hotels offer, but adequate. I would go back on future trips to Athens.

Not the Nefeli it used to be

I would have to say the Nefeli did not age well. Twenty years ago, it was a lovely, friendly family-run hotel. I was very disappointed in our recent stay. Yes, it’s a great location right in the Plaka, but renovations seem to have been done as cheaply as possible and our tiny room smelled awful. A really bad musty smell. I had to go down to the desk to have the power turned on for the air conditioner which may have been the source of the odor. The bathroom with a relatively new sink and floor, had a jury rigged wire holding up the shower rod and the caulking was disgusting. Will say, the sheets were nice but good grief, all the doors (painted a garish blue) made such a loud noise when you shut them you could hear it all over the entire floor. I tried the breakfast—good coffee but that was about it, and I didn’t like the way the desk person talked to the young women who was serving and very nice.

Nefeli is exactly the sort of hotel I enjoy staying in. Very reasonably priced, well located for access to key attractions. It's not lavish by any means, but it's clean and has everything I needed and wanted, including the most steady and reliable hotel Internet I've ever encountered. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

This place is in a prime location in Plaka, short walk to tons of shops and restaurants. My only feedback is that the website did not show pictures of the restroom which had a few design issues. The shower and curtain did not hold water so the bathroom Would get very wet when you shower, it was also very narrow so shaving my legs was difficult. Because of all this the plumbing suffered and there was a distinct smell, not overwhelming but there. I grew up traveling to Mexico often so none of this was a huge deal for me. I also loved the free breakfast each morning. The good still outweighs the bad

Heel fijn, klein hotel met alle voorzieningen die wij nodig hadden voor een paar dagen Athene. Het personeel is erg vriendelijk. De kamer en badkamer waren wat verouderd, maar worden goed schoon gehouden. Het ontbijt is prima. Het hotel ligt in de prachtige wijk Plaka, met op loopafstand prachtige straatjes en gezellige terrasjes.

Ich habe das Hotel schon mehrmals gebucht. Denn: Das Nefeli ist zentral in der Plaka unterhalb der Akropolis gelegen und das Wichtigste ist fußläufig erreichbar. Das Hotel ist eher klein und familiär. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und stets hilfsbereit. Die Ausstattung der Zimmer ist einfach, aber völlig zweckdienlich und sie sind immer sauber. Ein kleiner Supermarkt ist nebenan. Insgesamt ist es ein super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Ich würde es wieder buchen und werde es sicher auch beim nächsten Athen-Besuch tun :-)
