"Very family friendly. Great location, right on the beach. Nice pool and hot tub. Good water pressure in the room shower. There was a mini fridge in our room even though I think it said it didn't, which was a nice surprise."

Norblad Hotel

"The bed in the suite was so comfortable. It’s an older building but that comes with charm. The shared kitchen is unique but they make it work. We loved our stay for one night."

The Herondale Hotel

The Herondale Hotel

8/10 Good
"This property can best be described as out of Dickens' novel A Tale of Two Cities: The Good: very recently it was very thoroughly renovated (reopened 2 months ago), it is 2-3 miles from the city center and thus is quiet, A/C worked great and was quiet, it has great views of the Columbia River, and it has a good selection of wines and treats to relax with while enjoying the views from the patio. The Bad: it's 2-3 miles from downtown Astoria, those wines and treats are dreadfully overpriced (e.g., a wine priced 270% more than I can get it at the nearby Safeway?), it is really a renovated "motel" than a real "hotel". Was it worth the price I paid? No. Still, it was the main summer travel season and I booked last minute – bad me. I gave it 4 stars as the plusses slightly outweighed the minusses."

"Great stay overall, however, the coffee in the morning was not hot even arriving early for breakfast, the scrambled eggs were watery, and the biscuits and gravy should be kept at a warmer temperature. Barely warm. Otherwise it was a decent continental breakfast. Good variety."
