There's nothing to complain about with the hotel, the staff, or the breakfast. It's a 499-step walk to Ancona. We had to get a taxi to Locarno. But that wasn't a problem, since the reception was open 24 hours. We had a great time at the hotel.

The gentleman at the reception as well as the lady at breakfast were so friendly. It was a really special place, with Bauhaus architecture and an interesting history. Even if it took me a lot of effort to hike up to the hotel from the lake, it was totally worth it!

Absolutely stunning part of the hniverse. Ideal for humans. Make sure you get a lake facing room with a balcony and so on as I just stopped off for a nap and just took a sungle room without balcony but the view was spectacular through the window. Unfortunately there was some type of office motivational meeting for a company when I visited so all the name badges gave me Betty Ford flashbacks. It was extremely peaceful though, breakfasting was mediocre, bed was very comfortable and showering and toileting facilities were very good!

Very nice location. You feel like in a little resort. The rooms looks like an hospital room. Only white with convenience bed. But everything was clean. We have an amazing view on the lake from the balcony.

Nice and quiet place to stay and explore. The location is best to view the beautiful town and lake below. Lots of hiking trails besides the long winding road to and fro Ascona. WiFi is not readily available and tugging suitcase over the cobblestone is a challenge. Breakfast is great.

Great hotel, neat and friendly personnel. The garden is great to wander around and offers some great views of the lake. Getting to the hotel by bus is a bit hard. You'll have to walk up the hill. Also the rooms are not really soundproof, but since all people seemed to sleep in early this wasn't a big issue for me.

A cool experience as much as a stay.

Great stay, friendly helpful check in . I was given a better room than booked as it was now with a view . When I booked and paid , I hadn’t noticed it was a shared bathroom and toilet which I’m glad didn’t put me off as the hotel itself is an historical experience with beautiful grounds and its own museum! The aesthetic is Bauhaus which I found to be very atmospheric and evocative. The walk to the free bus service up and down the hill might not be for everyone, especially in the 33 degree heat i had. I saw a complaint on another review about the breakfast!? I found it memorable, tasty and wholesomely filling , eaten on a restaurant terrace with a beautiful view . The restaurant staff were also helpful and pleasant. I would stay again.

Tainted by disappointing service

Unfortunately, this special place appears to be losing its soul. Compared with our last stay, the breakfast was very basic and the service only half-hearted. Worst of all, upon check-out the receptionist deliberately and pejoratively called me "Natasha", which felt as treating me with contempt as a guest. This was very embarassing and unprofessional, and discourages me from visiting this hotel ever again.

Komfortabler Kurzurlaub

Auch beim späteren eintreffen um 21.30 Uhr, wurden wir zuvorkommend begrüsst und der Zimmerschlüssel ausgehändigt. Das Zimmer war im Bauhaus, wir hatten einen Hund dabei. Das Zimmer war geheizt und sehr sauber, die Betten komfortabel, die Matratze etwas weich aber nicht durchgelegen. Die Bettdecke gibt sehr warm, toll für Menschen die schnell kalt haben. Die Fenster können mit einem Rolladen verdunkelt werden. Das Badezimmer ist mit Duschgel und Shampoo ausgestattet. Der Frühstückstaum ist ab 7.30 Uhr offen, das Servicepersonal sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Das Buffet ist vielfältig und der Kaffee, Cappuccino oder Latte Macchiato ist von guter Qualität. Alles in allem war es ein toller Aufenthalt, sehr zu empfehlen.

Une chambre spartiate avec le minima d’équipement. Pas de moquette au sol ( composite) des lits très bas et trop mous mais une très belle vue sur le lac et un personnel chaleureux C’est un peu cher payé

Eine Wohlfühloase

ich hatte bereits vor einem Jahr alleine im Monte Verità übernachtet und dieses Jahr mit der ganzen Familie. Mir gefällt der Ort, die Gebäude und die Zimmer im Bauhaus mit den grossen Balkonen und der tollen Aussicht. Dazu kommt die Ruhe. Ich habe jede Nacht bestens geschlafen

Hotel in schöner Anlage an bester Lage

grosses Zimmer mit ebenso grossem Balkon. gutes Frühstück auf attraktiver Terrasse mit Seesicht. Schöne Parkanlagen. Ich kann alles empfehlen. Einziger Schwachpunkt ist der fehlende ÖV-Anschluss nachts, wenn jemand mit Gepäck anreist ist. Sonst ist man zu Fuss von Ascona in 20 Minuten oben
