"We had a wonderful 6 night stay. The staff are amazing and the food is incredible. The room was perfect size for a week or longer stay. Great couch and tv, with usb compatibility. If the bed and pillow were a little softer I would say it’s perfect. It was hard to leave."

"We cannot recommend La Vista Daisetsuzan enough. We skied Asahi-dake two days and staying here made skiing simple. The front desk was incredibly helpful and kind. The food was delicious, and the onsen was the perfect way to end each day. The hotel is older but updated in all the necessary ways. It has an ageless charm. The room was super comfortable. We absolutely loved every part of our stay. Quick tip: make sure to make your dinner and breakfast reservations before arrival. They send an email...

"We just spent five weeks in Japan and are still talking about the food we ate here. It is nothing short of spectacular. We paid quadruple at other ryokans and this one had the best food, best location and the best onsens. It’s an older place with older, big onsens and for us that was the charm of it. The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind. We went skiing one day and snowshoeing the next and ended up seeing a red fox each day. Really can’t recommend this...

" Lovely stay at Deer Valley, staff were great, very friendly. Really liked that meals were served at your table - we had stayed at a few other places recently that were all buffet style. The food was very very nice, and the italian dinner focus was a nice change from several weeks of japanese food. Breakfast was a large american plate, which also included a tasty curry soup (love that about hokkaido). Onsen has a nice view of Asahidake, and it was good to have the option to also take an onsen...

"Old school, old fashioned (read: dated decor, manual check-outs, actual keys for your room), traditional spa resort. The mixed onsen is great, lots of space and different temperatures so you can easily find your perfect spot. Definitely go half board as the evening buffet is excellent. Highly recommended."
