"The Retreat is gorgeous. The views of the Volcano and Lake are amazing. The pescatarian menu is perfect for vegetarians and pescatarians. All three meals are served. We did not have meals included but very much enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. The pocket sized gathering places are charming - slider over looking lake, dining room and reception, the separate lounge area with tea and coffee looking into the jungle. The evening walk was fun. The property is on the top of a very steep hill...

"The farm was so charming—including the goats and pigs! It felt secluded, safe, and had an excellent view of the farm and lake. The staff were sweet and attentive and the food was amazingly tasty."

"Be advised that the road to this amazing property is full of twists and turns which doesn't help anyone who is prone to motion sickness. Dramamine is a must! We arrived late at the property which there was a guard that pointed us to the way of the desk agent, who greeted us and helped us take our luggage to our suite. The room was cold, clean and had treats for us upon arrival as it was my birthday. Delicious chocolate ganache brownies! Dual shower heads with plenty of space to spare, bath...

"We loved our stay here so much! The property is gorgeous and the bungalows feel very private and unique. The staff is incredible helpful and took us to our bungalow to walk us through the amenities. It is worth noting the location is very remote. If you do not have a car, the hotel was very helpful arranging taxis. The final road to get to the property is a very bumpy road so we didn’t want to leave more than we had too. We wish we had an extra day we could’ve spent to just enjoy the property...

"This place is wonderful. The night walk was one of our favorite things we did while in Costa Rica, and there is a discount if you stay there which is a bonus. We got to see so many different frogs, and 3 kinds of snakes. JP was our guide and he was great. He was super fun and took the time to teach us as we walked. We also loved the butterfly garden. We can't say enough about how magical the whole experience was."

"La mansion is in a beautiful location, and has nice views of the lake. The swimming pool and hot tub (more of a warm-tub) were great. I also loved our bright yellow room with crazy tiles thoughout the bathroom. The restaurant was ok. I would recommend eating at one of the local sodas instead. Overall, a great spot if you have a car to explore the area(Including La Fortuna)"

"The view and the owner/hostess made our stay! The personal attention at breakfast was delightful. This feels more like renting a villa with a morning chef than like a hotel. There are a couple good restaurants at the bottom of the hill for dinner. The drive to La Fortuna is 30 minutes. Be aware there is no air conditioning. There are windows with screens on 3 sides of the villa so the breeze is nice. In the morning you’ll hear a beautiful symphony of birds. I would stay here again."

"A beautiful setting with a wonderful.cabin with A/C, internet, fridge, etc. So many exotic birds to see and hear including toucans, great carrasow, hummingbirds, thrushes and more. Gorgeous flowering plants on the grounds with fabulous view of the Arenal Volcano. "

"Stunning views from restaurant and room across as far as lake Arenal. All the food offerings were fantastic from breakfast to evening meals using home grown and home made items. Regular supply of wildlife to keep you entertained. Only slight negative was a reasonably long walk up a steep hill to get to the nearest shops etc but that’s no fault of the hotel. Also be aware there is no A/C in the rooms if you are as lucky as we were with the weather."

"We had a wonderful stay at Los Lagos! The staff were friendly, and then complimentary breakfast was great. The hot springs are very well maintained, as is the rest of the property. Make sure to check out the trails and the viewpoint! Our only comment is that the walls are quite thin so you can easily hear what is going on in the units next to you. Depending on who your neighbours are, this could be a bit annoying. Not much they can do about this though and we would still highly recommend!"

"This property was very nice. There was a bit of construction on site but it did not bother me at all. The view from the room and balcony is priceless. What I loved the most was the view in the shower. Imagine, taking a shower with a volcano in the background. Great place!"

"Off the grid/Villa verde was a great spot for us to stay for 3 nights. The property is well maintained, with beautiful lawns And lots of wildlife. We loved our stay!"

"Everything was great! The view is awesome, the location is great, and the hot tub feels very nice. Just a warning—if you hit the “water” button on the tub when no one is in the seats and the tub isn’t full yet, the jets might hit the opposite wall above the door 😂."
