AbingPlough House

8/10 Good

"We stayed for one night and found this place rather nice; as people have mentioned, the furniture is mismatched, but the Chinese couple is friendly and helpful, despite a slight language barrier, and as it is a historical building, this is reflected in its characteristics and lack of modernization. We didn't stay for breakfast so can't comment. If you are staying here, don't expect 4 or 5 stars, but instead a nice, affordable stay for a night or two."

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel was lovely and staff were really friendly and helpful. Great selection at breakfast and loved the bar area in the barn. The only disappointment was the pool. Felt a bit tired and the floors hadn’t been cleaned at all yesterday when we went (looked like all other days it had from the cleaning rota). Overall though we had a great stay and would return."

Hampton by Hilton Oxford

8/10 Good

"Our stay was very pleasant. Staff members we encountered were courteous. Rooms and other areas of the hotel were clean and well kept and the breakfast was more than adequate for our needs. However, the design of our room was questionable, as the bed was very close to the wall, which meant getting in and out of bed was tricky. We also had a problem with the pillows which didn’t suit us. We mentioned this to reception and apparently we could have changed them, but we didn’t appreciate that at the time. So please ensure that you let someone know if they are unsuitable and they will be changed."

The Railway Inn

10/10 Excellent

"The Railway Inn is a small hotel, over a pub that closes reasonably early and literally next to the train lines. The barkeep is also the hotel staff and the breakfast cook. She is terrific and lively. My room was on the second floor - spacious with two excellent twin beds, comfortable bedding and kettle, cookies, etc. They would like entry by 22.00 which I did not see in the ad, so I arrived later and she directed me to reach my room, which she had left open. The breakfast is cooked to order and both tasty and generous. Expedia say 6 miles from Oxford city centre. Close to 20 miles... but otherwise an excellent place to stay overnight."
