The beautiful beach at Applecross in Scotland which looks across to the Isle of Skye. The village was so remote that it didn't actually get electricity until 1955.

We drove up and across the single mountain track to get here, the views were incredible and the final destination very worthwhile.

"We knew it wasn’t going to be a fancy place, but was pleasantly surprised to find more room than I imagined. Nice size living room with Tv and lots of DVDs to choose from. Were able to make food in the kitchen. Two separate bedrooms for us two couples. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Friendly host. We were pleased to find an affordable place on Skye when all else was booked. "

"Rural and fabulous. Small town. Access to "major" highways. A few local restaurants and a grocery store. It's a great home base or a great place to stay for a few days. It's right on the ocean and a cool dock with some fishing (lobster?) boats. Loved it."

"Andrea & Rob were the perfect hosts and made our stay very comfortable. Sleepy Hollow was decorated to a high standard and positioned in a great area, very close to Eilean Donan castle which is stunning. Well worth a visit. "I had an excellent stay at the Sligachan Hotel. The hotel is steps away from breathtaking scenery for walking or hiking and a quick bus/car ride to Portree for shopping and dinner. Martin, the manager, was so helpful and kind. He drove my friend and I from Portree to our train because the bus schedule that day was not aligning well with our train schedule and morning activities. He also gave us great tips on the best things to do on the Isle of Skye and made sure that all of the guests were enjoying their stay. The breakfast was high quality - I loved the smoked salmon and eggs and the fresh fruits and yogurts. The receptionists were always friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions. I would recommend the Sligachan hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable stay right near the Cuillian Mountains and a quick commute to Portree."
