"What an incredible stay for us. First time to a ryokan (i.e., traditional Japanese inn w/ onsen). What an experience! Hotel is somewhat confusing to navigate, but that is part of the adventure. The public onsen was incredible (note: they swap the male and female sides, so pay ATTENTION!). The room we stayed in was "traditional" in that we had five futons atop tatami. Haven't selpt that well in a long time! The in-room onsen was a bit old school (basically a deep tub), but still oh so magical....

"The property was beautiful and the Japanese kaiseki was a great experience. I would only get the breakfast if you are okay with fish in the morning, as someone who doesn’t eat much other than yogurt for breakfast I skipped the second morning. I am someone who is very allergic and sensitive to mold, so I was disappointed that the rooms were a bit musty and left me with an allergic reaction. So if you are affected by mold I would maybe look elsewhere- especially for the price."

"Beautiful ryokan. Wonderfully large room. Everything was clean and well maintained. The staff was so kind and helpful. We loved the onsen experience, as well as the massage service. Stunning location. Walking distance to a lovely little town that I will never forget!"
