  • A true American wilderness experience with total solitude. The Cabin at Black River View sits on 100 acres and has the best view in Southeast Missouri in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. Overlooking the Black River and in site of the highest elevation point in Missouri, you will have no neighbors with total seclusion and quiet except for hearing the gentle rapids below. Newly built in 2016 this state of the art cabin has everything you need to entertain your family and friends. Located on a bluff near the Mark Twain National forest it has access to thousand of acres of hiking, hunting horseback riding, mountain biking, 4-wheeling and ATV trails, but the main attraction is the Black River. Crystal clear water fed from springs with a rock bottom that you can see 12 feet to the bottom, the Black River is a gentle river making canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and paddle boarding all an enjoyable experience. Local attractions include the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Johnson Shut Inns, Clearwater Lake, Elephant Rock State Park, and Sam A. Baker state park. Just two and half hours from St. Louis.

Secluded getaway

We had a great time at the cabin. Very secluded, access to the river via a walk through the woods, well-stocked cabin with everything we needed for a great stay (board games, movies, washers, fire pit, etc.)

A great house for our family

We have stayed at this house two years in a row now. It is a wonderful place to stay for our family outing. We take our side by side's and enjoy the river below.

Private ATV and River Getaway

This property was exactly what we were looking for….private and remote space to be able to bring our dogs and allow our son and his friends to enjoy time on the river and ATVs.

Family fall vacation

Property owner very easy to work with. Amazing view. The kid had fun playing in the crystal clear river. Very relaxing place to spend time with family and friends.

Lovely Stay!

This was our family’s second time staying at the cabin. We love being able to enjoy the comfort and amenities of the cabin while being in such a remote location. I could sit on the porch and stare out at the view all day long. It’s a super special place!

Excellent cabin and view

The cabin is extremely nice well thought out and up to date. The view and river are perfect for enjoying summer days and cooling off. The Owners Tim and Deanna are very friendly and accommodating. We will be back soon.

Secluded off road and river vacation

Had a great time at the cabin. This will be our 4th stay and we will definitely be back. AC and ice machine worked great. Rode ATV's all over, floated the beautiful Black River and enjoyed the view. Best rental property in southeast Missouri imo.

We loved the view from overlook cabin. Cabin was clean and cozy. Follow directions property manager sends you because gps will try to take you on a scavenger hunt but this was my fault. Accessing river a sxs or 4x4 definitely needed due to river being up. Very peaceful setting at river and cabin.

The Best Cabin!

Pictures on line do not do the cabin justice. It is way nicer in person. View to the river is incredible. We highly recommend renting. I know we will be back. Jeff is a great host who provides any and all information you request. Last minute perfect getaway for Thanksgiving!

Amazing seclusion

Off the grid feel with all of the amenities of home! Really cool property, had fun shooting and hiking and teaching the grandparents how to "offroad" down to the river!!! Enjoyed by the entire family. Its about 50mins to Johnsons shut ins but still a very doable day hike trip. Would lovw to return!!

5 Star Rating

This is our 3rd time renting this property for an outdoor adventure weekend. We floated the Black River and rode ATVs and UTVs all over the place. This place has so many options for a good time. I see they are building another cabin on the property which should be twice the fun. The pictures of this place never do it justice. We will be back again next year.

Ozark Mt Getaway

We’ve stayed in this area and Current River before and if you want seclusion this is your spot. All the luxuries of home but in the middle of nowhere. Side by side or four wheeler is almost a requirement. Average truck would not make it all the way to the river. Great hosts and property manager. Cabin view is second to none.

New Definition of "Getting Away"

Lovely facility which my 7 year old niece described as being in the middle of nowhere. Was perfect for the six adults and three children who gathered there to see the total solar eclipse--which we did get to see. Situated so that we didn't see the on site owners or their guests. On arrival it was clear the place had not been vacuumed for a while (lots of dead lady bugs) and a couple other minor maintenance things, which I shared with the property manager. Fantastic setting, lovely place.

Phenomenal view, great cabin and location

The view alone was worth the booking, we spent mornings with coffee and sunsets just watching clouds roll through the valley because it was beautiful. The cabin itself is very nicely appointed, the photos don't do it justice! Major plus that there's a dedicated icemaker. Access to the river does require a 4wd vehicle to make it easy and quick, at which point the cabin location is really excellent. Walking is possible but the steep grade makes it a chore if that's your only means to get to the river. Excellent instructions for the cabin, lists of things to do and communication from the owner.

Great Place with a Stunning View

We took a float trip to the Black River and stayed here for an extended weekend. It was perfect. The view was absolutely amazing. The pictures can't even do it justice. The cabin was clean, stocked, and well maintained. Even though we spent most of our time outdoors, it was a nice escape from the heat. The canopy and chairs provided were a nice touch. While the cabin is great, it's the location and atmosphere that set this place apart. The cabin is totally secluded with easy access to the river via hike, ATV, or truck (4WD is a must to get to the river). I hiked the trail up and down 3 times and, while it has some steep terrain, if you take your time it's not too bad. All in all, there is nothing I would change about the cabin. We've been taking a yearly float trip for the past 8 years, and this was far and away the best cabin experience. We were all hopeful to visit again.
