"We just had an amazing stay at this beautiful home at the end of June. We chose the property above others primarily based on the excellent reviews, which were spot on. The stately home and grounds were the perfect balance between old new. Lots of character in the architecture and decor with all of the modern updates in the kitchen and baths. We appreciated how well supplied the house was with all of the "extras" that are often overlooked (plenty of soaps/detergents, paper towels, toilet paper, hair dryers, condiments for cooking, even a pot of fresh herbs in the kitchen!). Also, fans for each room were available to combat the unexpected heat wave. Communication with our hosts, mostly Nathalie, was outstanding before, during and after our stay. Our only regret was that we did not get to meet them in person due to our late hour arrival. Our family of 4 stayed for the entire week and we hosted friends for a few days during the week. We used the home as a home base to explore this area of the Loire with short drives to Angers, Samur and lots of quaint villages in between. We also enjoyed some days visiting with friends on the shady grounds of the garden or on the veranda over looking the river. The village is small but we walked to the boulangerie daily, visited the farmers market on Thursday and my son enjoyed the scenery on his 10-14 km daily runs along the banks of the river. "Chateau is beautiful and in a very peaceful spot. I would describe it as 'shabby chic' as there are areas where money could be spent. However it is lovely and features such as the sweeping staircase, chandelier's and furniture look gorgeous. Town is only 4 miles away with a range of restaurants. Continental breakfast was great and plentiful. Only met 1 member of staff at breakfast but she was lovely and gave us some of the history of the chateau. Another English couple were staying in Kings Room and showed us around. Will book that room next time, if possible! Would definitely come back."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The building is absolutely beautiful and very well equipped. The owner, Jean Pierre is a real character! He has built the property with his own hands & has done an incredible job. The area is beyond beautiful, absolutely spotless clean & nearby some beautiful locations. The owners are some of the friendliest, warmest hosts I have ever came across. They went above and beyond to ensure we were settled and happy with our stay. They even fixed a couple of bikes for us to take out to explore the gorgeous countryside. I cannot recommend this place enough. It was exceptionally cheap for what we got and I will 100% be returning to L'Atelier in the future. I absolutely loved it here."

"Sadly, our stay was not what we expected as the reality did not match the facilities and information given on Hotels.com. Positives - Our room (Rabelais) was quiet, clean and attractive. Negatives - We had great difficulty finding the very rural property using the address given and had to ask locals for directions, twice. (The hostess admitted the address was wrong.) Check-in is from 6p.m. so this made us later still, after a long journey. Parking is not clearly marked, so we parked near Reception (the wrong place, so we were immediately told to move the car). We were unexpectedly asked to pay local taxes, when Hotels.com said "taxes and fees included" (small amount which we obviously paid, but it caused another problem). Hotels.com listed a kitchenette with cookware under "Room description" for Rabelais. The hostess told us there was no kitchen with our room and we should have known from the price. She eventually allowed us to share with the other guests a small communal kitchen area, which involved going outside and round the corner from our room, but made it clear that this was a favour and for the evening only. The "Park view" from Rabelais was not what we expected. All in all, the impression we had was that we were a nuisance, when all we expected was what Hotels.com had listed. "
