We stayed one night at the Victorian house as we had planned a last minute visit to the lakes due to particularly good weather forecast for this time of year. The staff were very welcoming; the room was as described ‘cosy’ and furnished beautifully. The breakfast was of a high standard with plenty of choice. We would definitely look to stay again, especially as it was such good value for money and right in the centre of the village.

perfect breakfast. rooms are clean. staff are friendly. Free parking in hotel can be challenging, but there are places close by you can park with charge. In busy times, having dinner at restaurants in the town can be difficult. Either book it early or eat in a different town like Ambleside.

Breakfast was delightful each morning! Also, our family appreciated the lovely sunroom, the helpful staff, the convenience to the village of Grasmere and countless footpaths, the treats put out each afternoon… we plan to return to the District and will stay at Victorian House!

We usually stay at the Bridge Inn but needed to be near family in an arbnb. The room was lovely, comfy bed next time I would request a room at the back of the hotel as we needed the window open in this heat and the traffic, although not heavy did disturb us. The breakfast was fabulous, quality ingredients. We sat in the lovely conservatory. The hotel is perfectly situated for the village. Will definitely stay again.

Fantastic location, great hotel and the staff were absolutely fantastic (particularly Alex and Susan), super friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was tasty with your choice of hot food made to order. I will definitely be staying again in future.

Lovely place with good facilities, older property so our room was spacious, bed comfortable and good bathroom. A little noisy for the dog as we were on the ground floor next to reception. Limited parking outside the property but able to park across the road overnight until 10:00 am. Overall lovely stay.

Victorian House in a great location and staff are very friendly and helpful. The room that we had was on the small size but did the job for the 2 night we were there. Would highly recommended anyone coming to this area to stay there as it is great value for money.
