Breakfast was delightful each morning! Also, our family appreciated the lovely sunroom, the helpful staff, the convenience to the village of Grasmere and countless footpaths, the treats put out each afternoon… we plan to return to the District and will stay at Victorian House!
Lovely spot right in the centre of Grasmere. Room was very comfortable and the water hot and heating on after a long day walking. All very clean. Breakfast was delicious and the staff attentive and friendly. Really, really impressed and would stay again.
It was our second stay at the Victorian and it won’t be our last.
The room we had was very spacious and most definitely ‘dog friendly’.
Our bed was comfortable and the breakfast experience was very pleasant with good quality food.
Staff were very attentive and helped enhance our stay.

Great breakfast
I stayed in the shepherds hut, it was tranquil, situated next to the river. Beautifully equipped and the Victorian bath tub was a lovely touch. Wish I had booked 2 nights
Everything about our stay was perfection!! The room was extremely comfortable and clean, with everything you need. The breakfast was incredible and the choice was great. But most importantly, the staff were so kind and helpful! Can’t fault anything about our stay!
Clean room, attentive staff. Pet friendly room, staff went above and beyond and gave our dog a sausage. Breakfast brilliant!

A gorgeous tastefully decorated hotel absolutely immaculate. Staff welcoming. We went out of season and it was so peaceful stayed in the stargazer room with beautiful views of hills. Would definitely return and grassmere village is just lovely
This hotel is in a great location, close enough to walk to center of village but still quiet. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable, with a great view of the surrounding hills.,( we had the star gazer room ) Breakfast was excellent! Highly recommend!
We were received very well, feeling welcomed from the moment we entered at the front door.
We were allocated to a big size room so our dog could be comfortable with us.
Parking was easy; despite restricted spaces at the property, there was parking across the street, so technically we could see our car from there.
The room was cozy and clean.
The breakfast room and options were fantastic.
We will be back!
Lovely place to stay and in a very good location. It has a lovely aesthetic and there was drinks and cake for guests waiting. I would leave a note for guests arriving early that they can leave their cars in the car park before check in as my partner kept going back to check with someone (anxiety) and there wasn't anyone around to ask.
We stayed in the stargazer room which was quite small but cozy. My biggest issue with the room was the bed is noted as king size but it seemed like a double at most to me which meant I slept badly as I need room to due circulation/nerve issues in my arms.
The view from the room was glorious, we stayed in the room in the evening and read while looking at the peaks. We couldn't see any stars due to clouds and I'm pretty sure there's a piece of the telescope missing, I may be wrong as I know nothing about them but there was no lens which I assume they need.
The staff were nice and breakfast was lovely. Everyone was helpful and ensured we had everything we needed. They all seemed to want to make the guests happy.
