Private parking for 1 car; communal visitor spaces available. No smoking.. Escape to Crag View for its beautiful views of the Coniston and Loughrigg fells. The grand west-facing windows make it the perfect place to sit by the fire and enjoy the sunset. The kitchen overlooks the woodland gardens, where deer visit daily, and the bedroom and living room window seats even have a glimpse of Lake Windermere.

Perched in an elevated position, Crag View is a first-floor apartment in a stunning Victorian manor house, with many of its original features still intact. The property is set in 3-acre grounds of mature communal gardens and woodland. There is a dedicated off-street parking space and ample spaces for other cars. Crag View is the perfect Lake District getaway for a couple or a family.

Within a short walk is Lake Windermere, less than 200m, accessed via Borrans Park, a popular spot for a picnic. Make sure to visit the 1st century AD remains of Galava Roman fort just next door. For the ramblers in your family, many of the fells can be accessed on foot from your front door, including Todd Crag with iconic views down Lake Windermere.

On your doorstep you have the Waterhead pier – a perfect photo moment. Here you can catch one of the lake cruises, or grab a bite to eat or a coffee from one of the surrounding cafés. Head into Ambleside itself, a short and easy 10-minute stroll. There are many shops, traditional Lakeland pubs, restaurants and two cinemas. The Michelin-starred The Old Stamp House restaurant is a special visit; named the best restaurant in the world by Trip Advisor in 2021.

Public transport is readily available if you want to leave the car. Hop onto one of the open top buses and see more of the surrounding countryside. Pubs and restaurants ¼ mile, shops ¾ mile, beach 23½ miles.

Quiet and ideally located flat

Nicely furnished and ideally located flat with nice views. Short walk to Ambleside, very close to bus station where you can take bus rides to nearly all destinations in the Lake District. Flat has everything you need and is situated on the second floor of a nice property located in a beautiful large garden. Highly recommended!

Very happy with the accommodation overall.

Very happy with the accommodation overall. A very warm and comfortable apartment, which was well equipped. The only thing which let it down were several cobwebs in the main bedroom above the bed and in the en suite shower room. The height of the ceiling could be a problem in the bedroom but not in the shower room. Having said this, we would certainly go again and can highly recommend. We had a fantastic time in the Lakes.

We had a fantastic time in the Lakes. The house is ideally located; walking distance to Ambleside and a great starting point for some local hikes and also within easy reach of other towns. It was also very well equipped making cooking and eating in so easy. I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to somebody looking for a two bedroom house in the Ambleside area. Thank you.

Just returned from an excellent 6 day break.

Just returned from an excellent 6 day break. The property is Ideally situated right next to the lake and a lovely local bar. It’s only a 15 min walk to the town where there are loads of nice places to eat. The property itself has amazing views and is so clean and relaxing. The bathrooms have just been refurbished and are really lovely. I do think it would be good to have access to a outside BBQ where you could relax at the evening but other than that there is nothing to add other than I look forward to returning to Crag View.

Great location, lovely apartment with big bright rooms. The decor is pretty dated but it was clean, welcoming and comfy. Really missed a tumble drier as it was raining too much to hang clothes on the line and the oven was a bit smokey but these are very small details when you consider everything this apartment offers.

What a gem of a place! Perfectly comfortable, clean, cosy and well positioned! Even though it’s riht on the edge of Ambleside and by the main road, it’s a quiet oasis with deer in the wooded garden. My only suggestion would be adding outside seating and a bbq.
