About this property

5 Bed in Ambleside (oc-lr239)

  • Set on a working farm in the beautiful Lakeland countryside, this delightful cottage offers a wonderfully rural base for families and friends looking to explore the Lake District. Nearby, the charming village of Hawkshead (1 mile) is known for its cobbled square, whitewashed cottages, galleries, tea rooms and traditional pubs. Literary fans can visit Beatrix Potter's Hill Top near Sawrey (3.5 miles) or the Wordsworth Museum in Grasmere (9 miles), housed in Dove Cottage. Popular Ambleside (5.5 miles) has shops, restaurants, a cinema, tennis courts and an indoor climbing wall, with the striking Stock Ghyll Force waterfall just beyond (6 miles). Further afield, enjoy National Trust days out at Levens Hall (20.5 miles) or explore the heritage of Old Bridge House at Ambleside (5.5 miles). The nearest lake, Esthwaite Water (2 miles), is popular for fishing, while at Lake Windermere (6 miles) you can take boat trips and enjoy water sports like kayaking and paddleboarding.

Inside, the cottage has a gorgeous traditional feel to it, with charming beams and plenty of character. The spacious kitchen/dining room is a wonderful space for meal prep, with everything you need for cooking beneath wooden beams, plus and a slate floor adding to the country feel. After days out enjoying the fresh air, relax in the cosy living room where you can light the open fire and watch TV. The first of the five bedrooms is on the ground floor – a double – along with a convenient shower room with WC. Upstairs are the four remaining bedrooms – two doubles and two twins – along with a family bathroom with bath and WC plus an additional shower room with WC, giving your group plenty of space.

Outside, make the most of the fresh air on the patio areas with garden furniture and a BBQ for al fresco feasts. A lawned area in front of the cottages, shared with the other properties, is great for relaxing and for children to play. The setting is peaceful and rural, surrounded by farm life, with private parking for convenience. Please keep dogs on leads between November and March due to sheep grazing in the fields.
