"Lovely room and comfortable in a great location up walk to acquaducts and nearby cafes.
Staff were amazing - helping us with recommendations for dining options and getting us out of a fix with a flat tyre."
"If you’re looking for a truly unique and memorable experience. I highly recommend staying at Casale di Maria in Matera. Domenica goes above and beyond with her attentive and welcoming service. She offers great tips on getting around town, where to go, and the best restaurants to try. It was an unforgettable stay - unlike any other hotel I’ve visited."
"Wonderful stay in this family establishment. The service and staff very kind and welcoming. The room as perfectly clean, spacious and quite. Perfect stay! Gracie Mille!"
"I have been traveling for 5 months and this hotel was by far my favorite! I was blown away by the attention to detail, the powerful ritual and symposium and the incredible heated pool surrounded by replicas of goddesses. The couples’ massage was wonderful and the staff and experience couldn’t have been better. Mindblowingly great! We loved it! "
"Fantastic experience from the get go. Communication, hospitality & excellent concierge. All delivered in a friendly & knowledgeable way by Simona. The accommodation was stunning & flawless & presented in such a way that complemented the beautiful city of Matera perfectly. Highly recommended!"

Top Altamura National Archaeological Museum Hotel Reviews
"We stayed in 12 hotels over 3 trips in Puglia and this is the only one we wouldn't go back to.
1) Noise: You can hear everything going on in the hallway, the other B&B room, and the apt next door. Our last morning we were woken up at 6am by the very loud guests next door. This is obv not something the host can control - but it makes it impossible to relax.
2) No breakfast: Host said it specifically explained online that there is no breakfast and snacks are offered as a courtesy. I don't mind having to go out for breakfast - but then why misleadingly call this a B&B? Most guests don't read the fine print and will assume a B&B has breakfast. Please call it a Pensione or Rooms.
3) Room: No kettle (big inconvenience if you're a tea drinker), no mugs, no glasses. The new couch, which allows more people to sleep here, makes it much more cramped than in the photos - I wouldn't have booked it if I had known the table with chairs was no longer there. The terrace is in a very small, narrow courtyard that bathrooms have windows onto, so the air isn't the freshest.
4) Perfectly safe area, but not picturesque. In general, you only need a half-day in Altamura - do yourself a favor and either splurge on that fancy hotel in the Old Town, or stay in the absolutely delightful Giardini B&B in Gravina in Puglia for the same price as this - it's just a 20min train ride (even shorter by car) and you'll have nicer finishes, much more space, a nice breakfast spread, a garden patio, and more."
