The Möwenhaus at our family-run beach retreat is lovingly furnished in a simple, rustic country style. It’s located in a quiet, secluded spot in the eastern part of the large garden and features a covered garden terrace and a sunroom. Our private beach is just a few steps away. Due to the gentle slope down to the lake, a small flight of stone steps leads down to the water. Nature is always within reach. Look forward to a vacation in the Land of a Thousand Lakes. Look forward to virtually untouched nature. To ensure you feel completely at home, we offer bike rentals and a bike storage room, a boat dock, table tennis, giant chess, boat rentals (Canoe, fishing boat), and a fishing pier. The bike path runs right past the property. Our lakeside retreat promises the joys of nature in every season and is ideal for hikers, nature lovers, anglers, and water sports enthusiasts. The “Fischer” passenger boat service is 1.5 km away; the Alt-Schwerin museum village with its village shop is nearby; the “Fischer” restaurant is about 1 km away; Malchow is about 7 km away; Plau am See is about 15 km away; the Karow Nature Reserve with guided tours, about 5 km away.

Cycling, Nordic walking, jogging: One of the best ways to experience the diverse lake landscape is on foot or by bike. Idyllic hiking trails (starting right at the house), such as the Tauchowsee Ice Age Trail loop (4 km), the Alt-Schwerin Werder trail (12 km), and a well-developed network of bike paths (the International Bicycle Route runs directly past the beach house),invite both seasoned cyclists and leisurely scenic riders alike to enjoy nature. Here’s a small selection of the options… Plauer See Loop (55 km); Drewitzer See (37 km); Müritz (108 km); bike rentals available on-site! Since we’re located in the heart of the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park and adjacent to the Müritz National Park, the nature tours offered here are highly recommended. The Karow Nature Conservation Station, a great starting point, is only about 6 km away. Boat trips to Lake Müritz and the other lakes are also unforgettable. (Boat dock approx. 1 km away)

Fishing on Lake Plauer and Lake Tauchow (50 m): Lake Plauer covers approx. 4,300 ha and is teeming with fish. You can catch plenty of pike, eel, perch, and zander. Experienced anglers and children alike—whether using a casting rod or a float rod—will find plenty to enjoy. Pike fishing is permitted year-round. With patience and in the right spot, even young anglers can catch their first fish here. We’re happy to help them assemble their first fishing rod and take their first steps in fishing. Fishing permits and bait are available from the fisherman. You can fish in peace from our dock or from a boat in front of the reed line. Baitfish, bloodworms, and twisters are very effective. You can obtain the fishing license required for professional fishing through seminars offered by the local fisherman, Mr. Thomas (1 km away), or as a tourist license (valid for 28 days) from the town of Malchow. Fishing licenses from other federal states are recognized. In addition, you’ll need a fishing permit. A rowboat is available for a fee (subject to availability). Good luck fishing!

Hosts/Culture: The hosts are available to assist you with any questions or concerns—whether you’ve run out of charcoal for the grill in the evening or aren’t sure what you’ve just caught. We’re happy to give you tips on secluded beaches, fishing or choosing the right bait, bike tours, and excursions to the Baltic Sea, Berlin, or Potsdam. Megalithic tombs, manor estates, castles, Brick Gothic architecture, and museums bear witness to the settlement and culture of the Müritz region. From your beachfront home, many of these scenic and cultural attractions are within easy reach on lovely day trips. The towns of Plau, Waren, and Malchow, with their historic buildings and unique charm, are major attractions. In the summer, there’s practically a folk festival, lake festival, or bathtub regatta somewhere every weekend (Hansesail, Müritzsail).
