To some, Tipu Sultan was a cruel tyrant. To others, a hero of Indian nationalism. To most people outside of India, someone they never heard of. Whatever the case, his tomb, a magnificent example of Indo-Persian style, was built to impress.

It's located in the western part Srirangapatna. Take a short rickshaw ride from the bus terminal or walk the 3 kilometers if you're up for it. Entrance is free, but the person you leave your shoes with will ask for a small tip.
