The lodge was bigger than expected and we loved the quiet countryside location There is a steep driveway up to the top of the hill it was worth it for the views. We explored the local area around Llangollen, Shrewsbury and had a day out to Chester which was about 50 minutes drive away. There are also plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby which saved cooking! "Lapwing is a beautiful, dog friendly lodge set along side of the canal, the first of 3 other lodges. Thereâ€™s ample parking. The enclosed decking area was perfect for our dog, who loved watching the boats pass and watching his human brother enjoy the private hot tub. The lodge has everything you need from towels, gowns, slippers, toiletries to dog essentials (bowls,blankets) to all your self catering needs."
