"Beautiful country house converted to hotel set in beautiful flat ground. There is nothing walkable as in dining options so eat at the hotel is the way to go. We did and the food although expensive was good quality and very tasty. If you’re planning a trip the The Beamish living museum this is the place to stay. "

"A fantastic B&B in a lovely rural location but a short drive away from all amenities. On the Pennine Way and nearby Hadrian's Wall walks. Lesley and Katie are welcoming and have really considered the needs of their guests. The B&B rooms are in a building with its own lounge, which is filled with maps, information leaflets, local information and even blister kits and deep heat for those who have finished a long day's walk. Secured, free WiFi is also provided and free parking. The room we had was clean, beautifully furnished and had a great shower. There is also a shared bathroom for those with young children or if you just fancy a soak rather than a shower. This is a stay on a working farm and Lesley provides breakfast in the mornings. Eggs from their own hens and meat locally sourced is on offer as well as vegetarian choices. The area is quiet and scenic and everything you could want from a 'famous five' style stay. We would highly recommend. "

"If you've ever dreamed of staying in a real castle, this place will make that dream come true. It is the genuine article. Not only was the room amazing, but the meals in the restaurant were out of this world amazing. Breakfast was superb. And if you want to live like a king, splurge on the fine dining dinner option. You won't be disappointed."

"This is a lovely hotel, situated a 10 minute drive off the A69, and easy driving distance to Hexham, Corbridge, as well as Cumbria and further reaches of Northumberland. Excellent hotel for walkers. The hotel has no lift, so if you struggle with mobility I would strongly recommend contacting the hotel prior to visit, and they can put you in a room just off the car park (accessable via a small ramp). Nice food, pleasant staff. "
