Pond, Berwick Berners Hall near Abbess Roding The pond is at the north-west corner of Berwick Hall (named Berwick Berners Hall on the OS 1:25,000 map) which is a 16th century part moated farmhouse, and the pond may be part of the moat. The manor of Berwick goes back much earlier, and in 1220 it was in the hands of the Berners family, from which it took the second part of its name. In the middle distance to the left, and partly hidden by a hedge or bushes, is a telephone kiosk, possibly a K6 model which was the most common of the models designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, and first introduced in 1935.

"Overall clean, new or renovated apartment, comfortable bed/pillows, nicely decorated room, nice bathroom. A cool bathroom mirror. No screens on the windows so we couldn't keep it open and enjoy the cool breeze from the attic because bugs were coming in. Hard to figure out wifi password. "The property has a lot of potential, but it's not quite there yet. The upstairs was nice, clean. The downstairs needs some attention. Pots & pans need replacing, need matches for the cooker, cleaning products, tea towels. Broken chair back in living room, uncomfortable sofa, could also do with some cushions. Also not happy that the check in details are provided at noon on the day of arrival, even though payment is taken in advance. Having said all that, if the issues were addressed I would stay...

"The staff were very friendly and welcoming and even better we could check in early has our room was ready. Our room was very nice and very clean. "I was assigned a room 1130. Once inside room looked until I needed to go to toilet and I saw the toilet seat was dirty. Someone had gone before me in the toilet probably a men as the seat was disgusting. I called the reception and they came after sometime and gave me another room. 3052 which was better but the toilet was for disable people, just a strange room exchange. Made me feel unconfortable."
