Very charming hotel! Wish we had more time to stay. The property feels very much like a ski lodge and I'm sure is gorgeous in the winter. Just as nice and more quiet in the summer!
We ate at the more casual restaurant - great food and enjoyed having drinks on the rooftop patio. We didn't have a chance to swim in the heated pool but it looked lovely. We loved learning that some of the Lord of the Rings cast stayed here when they were filming! 10/10 recommend

The property and rooms are beautiful. The location is amazing as well. Breakfast in the morning is great and feeding the Alpacas is a great experience. The hot tub was so nice after a day of hiking!

Sue and John were such wonderful owners of the motel. They were very helpful, fetched us from the railway station and took us to town to buy our groceries. The motel had all the facilities needed and you can rent you skiing gears at the motel itself. Plenty of supply of firewood and beautiful view of Mt Ruapehu.

I stayed for 3 nights during local trail running race event. The place is really tidy and well maintained. I sensed the owners' passion for this place and Tongariro region. The kitchen is spacious, has large fridges and everything you need. You can bring your own food and cook without any hassles. The lounge is even better with pool table and table tennis table. There are two decent restaurants, a petrol station and 4-square supermarket nearby, so you can find all the essentials.

Accessed through a little semi covered atrium or vestible that had a table with chairs, bathtub, sofa what was sealed from rain by the roof and from lateral wind directed rain by an open mesh awning that could be shut but not locked leading to the cabin itself which had a larger than expected room with heater, air on, mini fridge, bathroom with shower, and fully blacked out...
