Place: Schneverdingen, District Heidekreis, Lower Saxony, Federal Republic of Germany Description: The Pietzmoor, named after the court Pietz situated to the east of the mire, is the biggest coherent mire in the Lüneburg Heath. Raised bogs are depending on a surplus of rainwater and therefore also called rain bogs. The habitat type is represented by natural or near-natural raised bog complexes on at least one meter thick peat substrate.
