"DON'T STAY HERE!!! 1) House was not cleaned prior to our arrival. Imagine the dismay when my son got into his very uncomfortable excuse for a twin bed and literally found clumps of dirt in his sheets. Surfaces were barely wiped down, it was pretty obvious that a cleaning service had not been there, yet the owner insists on charging a cleaning fee (AND $150 more than even listed on Expedia!) upon departure. In all fairness, I will say that the bathrooms appeared to be clean. Those were probably...

This historic New England town features the Roxbury Land Trust's 32 nature preserves with hiking trails through scenic woodlands and meadows. Visit the Mine Hill Preserve to explore 19th-century iron ore mining ruins or attend events at the Roxbury Congregational Church dating back to 1732.

This was a really nice surprise-it's more then a hiking trail, it's a historical 19th century iron mine site. Not far from the parking lot, is the location of where the mine used to be-pictured are the roasting ovens. There is also a large furnace and several signs to learn about the mine and what the town used to look like in 1874. The trail goes along the old Donkey Trail that was used to bring rock down from the quarry. There are two main trails-about 6 miles total (3.5 miles for the Mine Hill Preserve and 2 mile loop for the Carter Preserve). There are also several miles of tunnels that are no longer accessible and are gated off with Bat Cages to allow bats to get in and out of the caves.
