"A fantastic hotel which managed to balance chic modernity with tradition and comfort, both in communal areas and in the spacious and comfortable rooms. A great selection of bars and restaurants though the buffet alone was more than adequate - delicious food with great variety, and I was pleased to see vegan and gluten free options. Excellent service. Good entertainment but it wasn’t “in your face”, you had to go to the right place rather than be forced to endure anything you didn’t want to. Having tried two other 5 star and two other 4 star hotels in Madeira, we can confidently say this was the best. Overall excellent and only the most minor of suggestions for improvements - soft close toilet lids and a map of the building for guests!"

"Really amazing stay at this hotel. Hotel was gorgeous and in a really nice area near Funchal. Walkable to many restaurants. The staff were really friendly and provided great service. We had the superior ocean view room on the top floor which had amazing views and a private balcony with sun loungers. Included breakfast buffet had a variety of nice food, good start to each day. Free parking in the hotel. Highly recommend staying here! "

"Very nice resort. Clean and big rooms. Breakfast and dinner buffet with a lot variety of food. During our stay was my wife birthday and the management of the resort surprise us with a cake and a bottle of sparkling wine. The resort is in good central location. "From checking in to dining to nightly entertainment. This resort is above our expectations. The staff at the front desk just couldn’t do enough To make sure our stay was everything we wanted. The dining and wait staff were beyond accommodative to any needs. Friendly, kind and respectful. Helen at the dining runs a great staff, it was so great to see a head staff having fun with everyone. So much respect show amongst staff. And, yes the food was absolutely great. Every meal had so much to choose from. Pestana Royal exceeded our expectations! Thank you for making our vacation more than we could have imagined."
