"Do not stay in a ground floor room. I was given a ground floor room. It was incredibly noisy all night with traffic, rubbish clearance, people going back from the pub. It was also very dingy as it was impossible to open the curtains without allowing everyone walking past to look.into the room. Given the price of the hotel it was a very disappointing experience."
"Comfortable and adequate stay. Room was laid out well and had everything we needed. Very unsure how this hotel is 5 star as the facilities were lacking. The coffee making facilities in the room need replacing as they are very dated and dirty. We were locked out of the building on our first night because we had not been given a fob when we checked in; we had to call an emergency number to help get us into the building. When I enquired about getting a fob, it was explained that they were changing...
"The place was modern, clean, well maintained with pleasant staff. The down side was the food, the kitchen had strange ideas on a poached egg.The yolk on the eggs in the Eggs Royal l ordered were hard boiled, separate from the white and spherical as if it had been cooked in a melon baller. The holandaise sauce was watery with no taste. That evening in the bar a group of people came in and sat around the bar. As the evening went on they got louder and swearing having no respect for the families...

"Unser Zimmer war sehr groß, das Bad sehr modern, allerdings verursachte eine Klimaanlage auf dem Gang nachts äußerst störende Geräusche so dass man mit Ohrenstöpseln schlafen musste. Die Einrichtung war recht neu aber Geschmacksache. Das Frühstück war völlig ok, hat man schon besser gesehen. Es gab eine Vertrauensbar mit ausreichend Getränken und Snacks. Allerdings spricht die Homepage des Hauses immer noch von einem Restaurant und einer Bar mit Cocktails. Das gibt es nicht mehr, was wir anders...
"We had a great one night stay at Berwick Lodge on a a Monday to celebrate a birthday. The sun shone and the Housemartins flew happily around whilst we sat on the terrace having a cocktail.
The à la carte menu was fantastic - well worth the cost and breakfast was very tasty.
Will definitely stay again in one of the other fantastic looking rooms."
"A lovely Victorian Hotel in a great location. A short 10 - 15 minute walk to the town, it is on a slight hill going back but absolutely doable.
We stayed in Room 6 on the top floor, I was worried it was going to be too hot at night as we went in the hottest week of the summer, so I brought an extra fan with me, there was one in the room when we got there, but the second one did help. During the night we left all the windows open and had a nice breeze so no fan was needed. I also asked for a top...
