4.5 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (124)
"The spa, gym, and lake views are excellent. The hotel has a very 90's feel and no room service (this was a bummer as we had a lake view room and wanted to stay in and relax). The beirgarten by the water has excellent food, although it closes at 930pm (as does the only restaurant on site (a buffet). The place was comfortable for 1 dayx the lake location and sauna were exactly what we wanted"

Learn more about Ziegenrueck

Check out Bleiloch Dam and Thuringian Highlands-Upper Saale Nature Park—just a couple of the sights around Ziegenrueck.

One of the most important rivers in the German federal state Thuringia is the Saale river, sourced in Northern Bavaria and flowing into the Elb river near Magdeburg. For the Thuringian Highlands in the early 19th century it was the root of many floods, but also sometimes ran dry in summer. This resulted in the build of the Bleiloch dam near Saalburg, damming up the largest water volume in Germany. In the 1950's (GDR) another Saale dam in Thuringia was build (Hohenwarte) for producing hydro-electric energy for the steel industry (Maxhütte) in Saalfeld/Unterwellenborn. So the Saale gets dammed up two times and in between of those two dams, the nice little town of Ziegenrück is placed and starting point for motor-boating or water sports activity.
