"Beautiful historic building with lovely gardens and spa pool. Friendly staff and decent restaurant. We booked a family suite which wasn’t really set up for 3 people other than a sofa bed in the lounge area. Only 2 bottles of water, 2 chairs on the patio and 2 comfortable chairs inside. Would have scored 5 stars across the board if they could better accommodate 3 people."

We loved the rooms with balconies overlooking the coirtyard and huge shuttered windows. A wonderful place to explore on foot, and the nearby altamira caves. A coach arrived when we were trying to book in. A line up of over 60 people with 1 person on reception. Spoke to manager in morning. Probably the rudest manager I’ve dealt with. "It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was very comfortable. Evening meals were standard but we both had cheese omelette and chips, which were delicious. Our two small dogs enjoyed the room as well. One small downside is that the GPS took us down some country lanes, some unmade, whereas there was a much more direct route. Not the fault of the owners though."

"The property is an old mansion turned in the hotel. Location is terrible in the middle of nowhere, the restaurant is nice, downstairs sitting area is nice, but… no elevator, it’s dark to get up the wooden stairs and you have to look for switch to continue the climb. The room is small, sparse and stuffy. No screen on the window , so when we had to open the window in order to breathe, we were bitten by mosquitoes. I didn’t sleep at all. No coffee station or kettle in the room. Wasted money"
