Ubisa Monastery is just 300m off the E60 National Road and a nice stop between Gori and Kutaisi. The St. George Basilica was built in the 9th century and the murals were painted by late 14th century artist Damiane. Two rooms in the Tbilisi National Museum (opposite the gold treasure exhibition) are reserved for five Icons, a door, the Tryptich Icon and an Epitaphios (holy shroud) saved from Ubisi Monastery.
