September 2016 Spitz, Wachau valley, Lower Austria Spitz is a small village on the north bank of Danube river in the Wachau valley in Lower Austria. Spitz is a small but appealing town with cobbled streets amidst vineyards, offering spectacular views of the Danube valley. It is 17 kilometres (11 mi) from Krems. Occupied since Celtic times, it was first mentioned in 830. The best wine cultures produced there are the white Veltliners and Rieslings. Autumn is the harvest season and very worth of a visit.

"We had a nice two night stay in the hotel. The room was big enough for our stay with comfortable bed. We loved the outdoor pool and the roof bar. We could rent bikes for a day to explore the area and cycle along Danube river. The breakfast was amazing with great selection. Reception staff was very helpful. The only negative is that the outside parking doesn’t have enough spaces for such big hotel, there is a big underground carpark for €16 a day which we thought it’s quite a lot and we thought should be free for hotel customers. Otherwise the hotel is great and was perfect for what we needed. "
