Hyatt Regency Birmingham-The Wynfrey Hotel
8/10 Good
"Hotel was clean but be aware that it is attached to a mall that is sadly quickly dying, like many others. Overall the hotel was clean and comfortable. And I would have given a higher rating except for the restaurant experience. My husband and I had been driving for several hours and did not wish to go ot so we ate at the hotel. We were the only customers dining. The waitress that evening seemed to be perturbed that we even bothered to disturb her busy activity of doing nothing. It took her over 15 minutes to come and give us menu's, and when we ordered, she never bothered to ask if we wanted any drinks. Plopped our food on the table and disappeared, never coming to check and see if our food was to our satisfaction, I suppose after a bit that she felt that we had taken enough of her time, Plopped the bill on to the table and walked away. Never asked if we wanted dessert or anything to drink. When she returned to collect said bill, I asked for a glass of red wine and my husband asked for dessert, which provoked her to let out an annoying sigh and grab the bill to update it. Imagine my surprise when we go the bill only to find out that they were charging $14.00 for a glass of Cupcake brand Pinot Grigio (an entire bottle only costs a couple of dollars more). When I asked her if this was the actual proc of a glass of wine, she stated to me "I don't make the prices". No wonder the restaurant was completely empty. Overall, I would not stay in this hotel again."

"I was in town on business, so it was a quick trip. The hotel is very lovely and has maintained the old charm. My room was nice and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable. I did experience a few oddities, one morning my shower turned on by itself. When I went in to turn the handle off, the stream stopped. The second night, every time that we took the elevator up, it would stop on the 9th floor. I was on the 11th and my co-worker was on the 12th. That same co-workers said that he swore he heard a panting dog in his room. He was on the 12th floor. Breakfast was very good every morning. The bar is nice. The first night, we all went up to the rooftop bar and enjoyed the great weather. Overall, it was a good trip. I would recommend this hotel."
