"For my first time ever visiting Hawaii, I was expecting more out of my room stay. The property only had one available restaurant, the property needed updating and poor maintenance upkeep. The Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were evacuated from the south tower due to water and pipe issues. We relocated rooms 3 times during our stay at the Royal Kona. Other than the room Our other Hawaiian experiences were AMAZING! Loved the island and its people! Mahalo!"

"many things to like about this resort but also few criticisms too. A big highlight that was beneficial to our stay was the complimentary refillable water bottles. There are many refillable water stations throughout the resort and we took them out everyday around the island. Another amenity is the free shuttle rides throughout the Mauna Lea district for food options or entertainment. I did like the proximity to a private beach for snorkeling and/or swimming. "Having a kitchen with a full size fridge and stove was awesome! The washer/dryer was another great resource to have in the room. There’s a free shuttle that comes every 30 minutes to take you to a destination in that area was great too. The pools are awesome. There was a section for 18+, 16+, and all ages. So if you don’t want to be in a “splash zone” you have that option. The food from the pool bar was yummy and was at a decent price. We are from Hilo and will definitely be planning another...

"I really enjoyed my stay here.. met all my expectations. Wasn't until the last couple days I ordered food to back to my room at the food truck by the pool and was left highly disappointed... if I ate near the pool and not packaged to go the food portions were appropriate.. otherwise i felt completely ripped off. Don't want to punish the resort for a couple few bad actors that seem to have a chip on their shoulder. Ordered food on 6/2 @ 11:30am."
