Jardin wasn't part of our initial plans while travelling through Colombia. After living in Medellin for a few weeks, we were on our way south to the beautiful coffee region. Not wanting to spend 12 hours on a bus, we decided to break up the trip and stop in this little town.

We originally planned on staying for a night or two, but fell so deeply in love with this quaint little Andean village, that we stayed for ten.

Still relatively untouched by the mass tourism in other parts of Colombia, Jardín truly holds on to it's rustic charm. Especially around sunset, when caravans of jeeps roll into town carrying produce from the surrounding farms. Old men in ponchos and cowboy hats unload the goods before sitting around the colourful square and relax over some cold beer.

This place should be on every itinerary to Colombia!
