"Steve and Ginny were welcoming and kind. The “roost was comfortable and had a spacious bathroom. Walkers shortbread was left at our coffee and tea station -yum! Steve suggested the forests walks to the Spey River and we enjoyed that so much. We then drove over the Cairngorm mountain roads to visit the 3 B’s as Steve put it- Balmoral, Braemar and Ballater and followed Steve’s suggestion of dinner at The Puffin (a wonderful day!). "Overall, the hostel was nice. The staff seemed to pay extra attention to cleanliness. We had a twin room which had a sink, a night table, and several hooks to hang items. There was no soap or toiletries. There was no other table to place things. Bags went on the floor. The space was small, but adequate for two of us. There were private and gang showers and toilets. We didn't use the kitchen space, but it looked clean and was adequately supplied. Get there early or there will be no place to...

"Not our first time and not our last at the Woodland lodges. Great deal for families or groups. Lodge is roomy and well maintained. In the heart of Aviemore, easy to walk the strip. Had great weather so walked everyday. Breakfast buffet welcome start to the day. "

"The host/hostess extremely friendly. The evening meals superb and took extra note of my diet requirements. My room was fine but no chair or place to hang damp towel to dry out. The room was in an annexe and I had to go outside to access all amenities - lounge, dining room, guests’ kitchen. No kettle in the room so this kitchen was essential for out of hours cuppa. Very minor complaints all forgiven due to service and meals."
