"How this hotel has a 4* rating is a mystery!
I’ve just come back from a 2 night stay and was really not impressed. On arrival it looks very grand but all that changes when you get into the tiny, dark decorated rooms. Absolutely nothing like the photos that advertise this place!
A very bad smell kept wafting through the bathroom and a smell of weed in the corridor!
For a supposedly 4* hotel the tea and coffee facilities in the room are underwhelming. 2 teabags and no biscuits. I’ve stayed in...
"Great atmosphere and excellent and clean room. Beds only double but adequate. Good breakfast and relaxed environment. Bar staff specially Coco was most cortiouse and polite bar tender ever with exceptional knowledge. Only issue we had was had confusing information or lack of it before checking."
"Excellent service from receptionist on arrival and they kindly upgraded us to a suite due to our celebration and we were incredibly grateful. The room was immaculate and sound from the streets outside was quiet due to the double layer of windows. Ear plugs were provided in case though. Staff all really helpful and kind. We would definitely stay here again."
"Kaylee has been very helpful to reassure me about my parking at the hotel, without extra charge, for arriving and parked earlier, than my check-in time. She has also been extremely helpful in sorting out my presentation notes, and able to print out the pages that I needed. I felt that I can relax and prepare my work course very well in advance with my stay at B&B hotel Derby on 25/9/26."
"Loved the facilities at this hotel and the onsite bar was pretty decent quality. Check in experience could be improved as despite 3 staff on the desk, self check-in was preferred and the free parking option we purchased was not clear how to redeem."
"Fantastic hotel! Easy walk from the train station, and to other things that you would need to get to like eating and the university. Lovely lobby, they had a workout room which I didn't use but that's a nice extra, and the room itself is very nice. I would definitely stay again"
"Had a slow drain on the shower, due to the way the shower isn’t a tray this meant water flooded the rest of the bathroom. Reported to be reception and this wasn’t fixed. Had to use a towel wedged against the shower door and then turn the water down.
Asked for more milk sachets (two for a family room with 4 isn’t enough) at reception and got directed to the bar, had a huge wait whilst they faffed around serving just one person - god help anyone if ordering a round then!

"The staff were very good. The property was good though the layout of our room was odd and the mirror screwed to the wall was on the tilt. The tv had a little quirk - it switched itself on in the night!

"Arrived on Sunday evening. Had been held up at an engagement but had a table booked during my journey for 20.45. Arrived at the pub/reception at 20.53 (booking line stated I had a 15 minute grace period). Told rather rudely that the kitchen had closed ages ago. I pointed out that I'd booked a table for 20.45 to which the reply was 'well it's now 20.53'. I stated that the booking said there was a 15 minute grace period and I had been stuck in traffic during my 2 hours drive, so couldn't help...
