"The Grand Hotel in Torquay has an excellent position when travelling without a car. The hotel is a minute away from Torquay station on one side, four minutes at the back (which means disability access to both train platforms). The beach is right across the road. The bus stops are in front of the hotel, going to the port and central town. My room was much more spacious than I expected, with a sea view, very comfortable, twin beds, tea, impeccable sheets and towels. Tea bags, hot chocolate and...

"We found the hotel to be excellent in all aspects. We arrived fairly late (10pm) but were able to get a bottle of wine to enjoy in the very comfortable lounge area. The hotel is very spacious and well appointed. The gardens are beautiful and our breakfast was very tasty. Although the hotel was busy (as evidenced from breakfast) it was also very quiet and peaceful. All around a fantastic option for anyone looking for a hotel in the area and excellent value."

Let down by awkward, tandem car parking facilities, broken light in bathroom (acknowledged by hotel) and by receiving nine "spam" like e mails from the umbrella owners' company in the week before arrival, the later ones asking if we had enjoyed our stay before we had even checked in!"
