"We stayed overnight before my daughter's wedding for a dinner in Stirling. I loved the vibe, historic Scotland on the outside, contemporary restaurant, bar and rooms on the inside. My bed was comfortable and the bathroom was great. It is a great walk to downtown Stirling. Only one thing I would wish for and that was air conditioning. However, this was July and not something one would encounter as outside it was chilly but the windows didn't really let in the cool weather.
However, the hotel is...
"On first appearance this looks like an upmarket period property. We were in the garden wing which is not attached to the main building, so you have to go outside to get back in the main building for breakfast etc.
Our room was large, but the bed was barely big enough for two people, so even turning over was a problem. The main problem however was the smell. As we opened the door it smelt like we'd entered a swimming pool - the chlorine smell was overpowering. With hindsight I should have gone...
"Staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Hotel itself is a little tired. Bed was like staying in my in-laws spare bedroom, on their old bed. Bathroom fan didn’t work and the ceiling was mouldy. Quiet environment about a 35 min walk from train station and old town."
"I stayed for a night in early August. Had an evening meal for which there was no ‘service’ charge added. I stayed again at the end of August & had an evening meal only this time there was a ‘service’ charge of 10% added. I challenged this only to be told “it is on the menu”. It was not ‘on the menu’. The charge was returned but why was it there to start with & nothing to alert you to what I was later told was a discretionary payment! The receptionist on each visit was fantastic. The restaurant...
"A nice hotel with very friendly staff who were helpful in every way. We were in a ground floor room and could hear e ERY step of the guests above. This was the only negative."
"Great town to base yourself we stayed there for 8 years so we know this . The guest house is beautiful back from the road so very peaceful. The hosts are so lovely and welcoming. The room we had was a small double and it was immaculate, clean and had everything you need . Breakfast was excellent and there was plenty to eat . You won’t be disappointed "
"We loved our stay and wish we’d had more time. The room was beautifully decorated and very clean. We felt instantly relaxed and at home. The breakfast was delicious and so filling. The hosts were extremely helpful and so personable. If we ever return to Stirling, we will certainly return here!"
