"Loved this country house hotel. Very charming and close proximity to Chester and its zoo. Only 30 mins away from Manchester Airport so would definitely consider staying here if flying from there. Hotel is set in beautiful grounds. Has its own restaurant but we didn’t eat here as some lovely local places to sample.
Staff were very helpful and our room was comfortable and cosy. Would certainly recommend.

"Friendly and warm reception staff. Room comfortable, good bed, bath over shower, large TV, tea and coffee facilities. No AC and it was quite warm. Nice pub restaurant"
"Stayed in a golf view room which was ample size and with nice views of golf course, king bed was very comfortable. The only issues we had with room was there was a very noisy extractor fan or heating fan that was extremely noisy in the corridor (floor 3) that was quite annoying during the night. The tv was small and dated and remote didnt work . Another issue was there was a lot of dust on the tables and vanity units which obviously hadnt been cleaned in a while which was a bit off putting and...
"Really nice hotel in a great location. The review would have been a 5 but for the fact of the most ridiculous system is in place on the bar for food. I ordered an appetiser and a main course stating it was a starter followed by ,,,,,,, To my surprise they came out together. I asked the waitress who grunted that’s the way the kitchen do it and making me feel I was a tad unreasonable. I suppose the saving grace I did not order an ice cream for dessert."
"Rookery Hall is nothing short of stunning!. What a place. Beautiful grounds, the building is amazing to look at inside and out, the staff can't do enough for you and the Spa to relax. Me and the Mrs were very sad when our stay came to an end. It's a no brainer if you want a peaceful, romantic stay with your loved one. Absolutely brilliant *****"
"Excellent stay at this lovely hotel. The bedroom was very clean. Staff are very pleasant and made our stay very enjoyable. The meal we had was top notch and couldn't fault any of it. Breakfast the following morning was also very enjoyable, served piping hot and delicious. There is ample free parking on site too which is a great bonus with the hotel being on the high street. We would highly recommend the Red Lion and wouldn't hesitate to return!"
"Great place to stay if visiting the potteries, especially Wedgwood. Rooms v nice and clean. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Charming cats! Tiny little things- eg missing shower non slip mat and no pepper in the pepper pot but overall highly recommend for the area."
