"Great property.. incredible views from our patio. Breakfast was great too. Only (very) small concern was the shower in our unit did not have a head high hook. Only a hand held shower head. But don’t let stop you staying here… the views alone are worth the stay. "

"Hotel Excelsior was a very nice hotel in a very great location in Zermatt. The room was clean and modern the shower was amazing and while a small room it was very comfortable and included a balcony. There was a great view from the balcony and everything was perfect including the breakfast which was a very nice spread a very good clean food."

"Gorgeous little hotel, a real gem of a find. We had the best welcome of the week here during our train tour of Switzerland. A warm welcome and even a lovely bar of chocolate when we left. "A family run hotel with terrific views of the Matterhorn. Electric shuttle picked us up and dropped us off at the train station on arrival/departure. A free local bus allowed access to downtown but service ended at about 7:30PM and the walk back would be pretty uphill and take half an hour. Alternatively taxis are available but we were told they can be quite expensive. We were able to ski out and ski most of the way back. Beginner skiers would struggle to do so. "This hotel was close to the train station and walkable to many shops and restaurants. One of the staff was super helpful but once we called down to ask a question and we were rushed off the phone and hung up on after asking the restaurant at the hotel. Breakfast offered an assortment of choices. One morning we ate breakfast later about 1hour before it closed, the hot food was like warm and the butter machine ran out of butter. The next morning we arrived early for breakfast and everything...

"This was our favorite hotel out of the 6 hotels we stayed in during our trip to Switzerland. The rooms have recently been updated and looked and felt great. We had perfect views of the Matterhorn. The staff was very friendly and even gave us a coupon for 10% off our ski rentals from a nearby shop. We plan to stay here again when we go back to ski again."

"Amazing staff and location. A little bit dated, but that kind of added to the charm. Very clean. Would definitely recommend paying slightly more for a view of the Matterhorn. It is a bit of a trek up the hill and we were out of breath every time we returned to the hotel. Probably good to walk off the fondue though. Taxis are readily available. "
