"The apartment is nice and clean but lacks charm or personality, I could be anywhere in the world. I wanted to look and feel like I’m in Orkney. Otherwise, it’s fine. Good convenient parking, with a nice restaurant and a proper boozer."
"We were very pleasantly surprised to learn our 1 room family suite had 2 separate bedrooms. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was nice.
Only issues were that we only had 1 key which made it tricky every time we went separate places. Also there was an illuminated exit sign in the king bedroom we had to cover up it was so bright, and when others shut their doors it would thump ours. Loved the skylights, was a bit stuffy but those helped. Loved the breakfast!"
"We were very lucky because both times we parked at the hotel, we got one of the 2 slots in front of the hotel, so we didn't have to try and find the additional parking lot, but the staff did give us a map to find it. Keep in mind that there is no lift, so depending on your floor you need to carry your bags up. The 23kg bag was not much fun to take up and then down 2 flights of stairs. "Absolutely amazing location, and great host. All the appliances worked (and we cooked frequently in the kitchen that offered space enough for 2 to be comfortable). The bedrooms at the top of the stairs were compact but had a table and chair in each, for those who need laptop or writing space. The living room was cozy. (The toilet was a bit loud, but nothing egregious.)
The LOCATION was fantastic. I was concerned that possibly there would be noise from the harbor across the street…nothing....

When I was first looking for somewhere to stay in Stromness I have to admit that I was quite disappointed not to be able to find anywhere overlooking the harbour. Then I saw 'Withy Gill' listed on the website and booked for a 4 night stay in August. Having now had our holiday and wandered round Orkney and Stromness, how glad am I that I found it !
