"It is unusual to find a suite with a real door, then an ocean view and two lanai’s. An especially amazing place, book a suite. It is worth double the rate!"

"The room and hotel is exactly what it promises. No frills and quiet (except for the occasional plane flying by). If you are in Hawaii and in Hilo you are probably not staying in your hotel a lot. You will save money on their free coffee which is actually really good and strong. Staff is polite and friendly. There are plenty of places to eat in walking distance. The property is very beautiful and the koi pond is awesome when lit up at night. "

"We didn't get a chance to try the hot tub but the grounds are beautiful and all staff at lodge and restaurant were kind and helpful. Food was delicious and proximity to Kilauea volcano sights was super convenient. Hope to come back again soon!"

"I did not realise that we were staying in a plantation village, with multiple accommodation. I had made a request for two beds and, as it was a slow time of year, we got two bedrooms. Pahala is a very cute town (and currently the only one with a grocery store as the one in Naalehu was no longer as at 28 Jan 25). The people were also really friendly. The only thing to consider is the roosters. If you want to sleep in - close the windows. We didn't, as the black sand beach was all ours at sunrise,...

"We loved our stay at Dragonfly Ranch. The location is out of the way but perfect for seeing the beauty and splendor that is Hawaii. The people are kind and interesting. It's not for everyone. You are quite immersed in nature. There will be geckos in your room and the birds and insects are right outside. It's almost like camping with a comfy bed. "
