Staff are lovely - although there is a risk of wine recommendations becoming a sales pitch. There are lots more hotel-organised trips available than before. From start to finish there was not one issue, got upgraded to a suite, stunning room immaculate views amazing location, breakfast was incredible and the staff had character and charm. "We had a 2 night stay as part of our 2 week holiday in another part of Crete. We absolutely loved it. The room and facilitates were really good. Very comfortable beds. Fantastic view from our room big balcony with chairs. Great pool and sun longers, swing seats in lovely grounds. The owners were lovely people and should be so proud of their achievements. Included breakfast was good sitting on the communal balcony enjoying the view. We had dinner one night and were very impressed 15 euros...

Rethynmo centre is not far from hotel, you can find bus outside hotel (Euro 1.20). You can find excursion/travel agency outside hotel (buses will pick you from outside of hotel) if you don't have car."

We arrived very late at night and we were very welcomed at the reception of Fortezza Hotel and our room with the view of the hotel swimming pool and the garden was wonderful. Breakfast was great and all the staff so helpful and very nice. Next time we will definitely stay longer there."
