"We had an excellent stay at Al Castello! Paolo was a magnificent host, with excellent restaurant and entertainment recommendations. He greeted us each morning at breakfast with coffees and special treats, as we watched Mount Etna fuming in the distance. He also helped us park and load the car. We booked this property specifically because the Expedia listing states in multiple places that it has an outdoor pool. This was extremely important to us because my husband has back problems and swimming is part of the physical therapy he needs while traveling.

"The property description is highly inaccurate. There is no buffet breakfast, no pool bar, no beach bar, no beach restaurant, no fitness center. The pool closes every day from 1 pm to 4:30 pm. That is prime swimming time for my family. The place is old and run-down. The positives include a beach front property (30 minutes from Messina train station), beautiful sunsets, espresso and gelato bars, and an pretty seafood restaurant."
