"Large clean room with crisp sheets on the bed. Both the bed and the pillows were too firm, resulting in limited sleep I was convinced that continental breakfast was included when I booked the room. However the Expedia booking did not state that ,nor did the information sent to the Porters Lodge. The charge was though only £5 pp."

"We stayed in a studio cottage adjacent to the main building.it was exceptionally clean & comfortable . There was a lovely bed &a small kitchen area with microwave & dishwasher. The main hotel has a very friendly bar The restaurant serves very good food, reasonably priced. The English breakfast is fantastic. It’s our 4th visit. I think that speaks volumes. Hopefully ,it won’t be our last."

"This hotel is in dire need of repair. Our stay was not as advertised. The bedside lights were just bare (very bright!) bulb’s with no lampshades and this was not by design. We were visiting with a very large group and I visited other rooms, no other room has bare glaringly bright bulbs at sides of the beds. The bath had black mold round it. "Firstly, it was lovely to stay in an independently owned hotel where the staff clearly have great pride in their hotel and ensuring that guests are happy with their stay. Everyone was charming and helpful. The breakfast was lovely and the evening meal, although not an extensive menu, was freshly prepared and nicely presented. "Strikingly looking hotel. Unfortunately on entering reception, we were greeted with a dirty carpet, which carries on into the bar area with lots of stains. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs, which I wasn't aware of when I booked. Therefore, in this heatwave, the room was an oven. There was a desk fan - 'thank goodness'. Pleased with the room, the layout and amenities. Curtains need seeing to, useless and need blackouts! All the staff were pleasant and hard working. Did not expect a buffet...
