"This is not easy to find - tucked away in the hamlet above Canfin. (Drive past Candin for 1km and there’s a sign on the left). The hotel has beautiful outdoor seating under a thatch and lovely walks around. But what makes it so special is the quality of the cooking - they do an evening meal for guests, with full use of local products, especially the chestnuts and figs. We had spiced figs in our main dish of perfectly long-cooked beef, and home-made marrons glacé on our delicious lemon...

"The hotel in on the outskirts of the city, but right next to El Camino De Santiago. There is nothing open around the hotel after 7:00PM. My suggestion is to get something to eat for dinner before you get back to hotel. Junior was very helpful and cordial. I will definitely come back to this property "

"The hotel is way outside of Astorga, and it looks like the hotel that the apocalypse left behind. There were almost no guests. The whole staff leaves at 4pm. They do not serve real food despite having a restaurant. Much of the grounds are in a state of disrepair. If you want dinner, you have to walk along the highway to another hostel down the road. The staff was very nice, and the rooms themselves are comfortable if old school. However, I could never quite get over the unsettling feeling of...

"The convento Foncebadon is wonderful. Clean. Comfortable. Cozy. The room was large. We slept beautifully. Very quiet. The only issue we had was even though i made my reservation on Hotels.com for some reason they did not have record of us. After they made a phone call somewhere it was clarified and we had a wonderful stay. Also the restaurant served dinner and we were quite pleased. I highly recommend the Convento"
