"The hotel is very tired and the restaurant area is more like a works canteen. Food OK but is a carvery - not very exciting. Staff helpful. But whole hotel lacks any ambience"
"The Old Swan Hotel is a classic mix of old world charm with a friendly welcome and the comfort with up to date amenities. We're looking forward to returning in the spring."
"Once I got my head past the idea that ‘this is not a Marriott’ I came to realize this is a great hotel.
Room was comfortable. I was able to park right outside the hotel front door every night. Breakfast was good. The bar area is well presented with a good mix of locals and tourists to talk to.
Room attended to daily.
The local town is very pleasant. Some great coffee shops and pubs."
"I really liked it. If you are expecting ultra modern this is not the place for you. If you are happy with a well worn in lived in vibe you will like it. It was cheap cheerful and I enjoyed the breakfast."
"I've stayed here, overnight, on two occasions in the last month. During both stays I have come down for a continental breakfast either at 7.45am or 8.30am only to find the through door into the breakfast area was locked and no one around to give access. This meant I had to go to a nearby shop to buy breakfast at an extra cost to me even though it was already part of my booking cost. On both occasions complained afterwards to the pub manager and received no apology as he stated breakfast was at...
"The Village Inn was the perfect place for a stopover while travelling further south. Ideally located a short distance from Northallerton. Large car park, restaurant with a really good menu choice and very reasonably priced. The room was extremely clean and comfortable with heating you can control yourself. Powerful shower and very hot water. Breakfast was great, with choices of full English, Vegan, cereals etc.
I would highly recommend the Village Inn to everybody looking for somewhere to stay...
"The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good. Pub had a lovely atmosphere.
The beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean."
"Staff were amazing 10/10
Food amazing
Very accommodating
Rooms says soundproof but wasn’t and corridors smell of the food, overall though we had a lovely time and used as a base and we enjoyed the food they served 10/10"
"We had a great stay at The Mitre. Really friendly, helpful staff. Right next to the station and a short walk to the waterfront and town. Very comfortable room with everything that we needed."
"It is a dog and child friendly pub with a large garden area with a childrens bouncy castle, so if you like dogs and children this is the place for you. The Menu was a little restricted to typical pub grub. Prices for wine and beer were on the high side.
If you want to eat a meal without being disturbed by hoard of children going to the toilet then avoid the garden room dining area."
