"There are 3 hotels in the Somerset group. This is away from the beach. Its up a very steep narrow concrete road. Its dark in the night and only 1 vehicle can go up or down this dark narrow road. The hotel staff are really nice. The rooms are a bit dated. The breakfast buffet was a joke as compared to hotels we have stayed in colombo. There was no buffet. Just a plate of fruit and eggs if you asked. Better stay is closer to the beach and somerset has a hotel right on tne beach"

"This is a good hotel situated right on the beach. The room had all the basic essentials. We stayed in a budget room. The walls were full of stains and the mosquito net smelled like it hadn't been washed in months. Budget should not mean the room is not maintained. We stayed 5 nights. You can access the beach and do snorkelling to see turtles and can walk up to the coconut trees. Approx 5 minutes in a tuk tuk to mirissa for a very small fare. Hotel staff went above and beyond for everything we needed. The WiFi worked however wasn’t strong enough in our room for us to fill in our visa for Malaysia so they put a router in our room! "We had a wonderful stay at Angel Rest. The owners are very kind and helpful. We cooked in their kitchen, showed them some of our cuisine and got taught making crab curry. Its just 200m to the beach and 800m to the supermarket. The rooms and bathroom are new, bed is comfortable. We added two extra days."
