We spotted duiker, boomslang, baboons, mongoose and lots of colourful birds, butterflies, dragon flies and much more. The hike up the valley is beautiful. Highly recommended if you want a peaceful back to nature retreat. "

"We had a marvellous time at Caracal Lodge. It was a wonderful away from it all experience. Magtree Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped even though there is no electricity, power being supplied by gas appliances, paraffin lamps and LED lighting. It was magical to wake up with views of the resident giraffe family as well as zebra, impala, horses and a pet pig! Outside there was a braai, fire pit in a lovely shaded area and a small pond. Exploring the 300 hectare game park there...

"During my stay, I was in the Reception area when there was a sudden influx of flying "Rice Ants". They dropped their wings and after about half an hour there were only the shedded wings left. I was pleasantly surprised by the desk clerk who whipped out a vacuum cleaner and made a good job of cleaning up."
