There's a great sense of calm at the Saiki Bekkan, from the vast, carpeted main lobby with its dramatic glass wall overlooking the traditional garden to the spacious and multi-roomed accommodation. The hot spring baths are enormous and provide ample opportunity for bathing both indoors and in outside pools. The food was sumptuous and the staff incredibly friendly. "The Ryokan is located by the side of the river with a verdant forest in the back ground. This makes it a picturesque view from my room window. The sound of the flowing river makes for pleasant & soothing ambience. The onsen radium rich water is unique to this area & is supposed to have therapeutic efficacy. The onsen village centre's street has some interesting shops to discover. Slight down side, the ryokan is dated & needs some sprucing up. "
