"We stayed at this location a couple of years ago and the room we stayed in was much cleaner. We returned to find room 206 very dirty. The table tops were sticky with prior guests food drippings. The carpets were filthy and the bathroom around the toilet was disgusting. Urine was days old at the base of the toilet. The fan in the bathroom didn’t function at all. The bathroom ceiling was moldy. We will not return to the Blackstone Lodge in Lead, SD."
"The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Only booked to stay 1 night as we were passing through. They had a bus load of college volleyball players arrive right after we did. The hotel was very quiet. No issues."
"Front desk not friendly. Stayed here many times because we like location and breakfast at the Gem. But probably the last time. Stayed on 2nd floor and couldn’t sleep because of person above our room on the 3rd floor was so loud, thought they were coming through the ceiling."
"We've stayed at the Town Hall a couple of times and will definitely stay here again. The rooms are all so interesting and well maintained. We love the fact that someone cared enough about the history of this building to repurpose it into something that everyone can enjoy.
Sue was so helpful with the check-in and entry codes. She makes this even more special with her attitude and friendliness."
"This was an extremely odd place to stay for several reasons. The pictures and the exceptional rating were very misleading. The free “breakfast” was do it yourself with an open jug of orange juice and sour milk. What bothered us especially was the fact that we could not lock our door from the inside. It was accessed by a passcode that probably remained the same for who knows how long and the deadbolt to the outside door had been previously busted in. Strange place."
"I highly recommend this as a place to stay in Deadwood. Clean, well maintained, wonderful bed and linens. Great bathroom. Food was good. Conversation was wonderful. Staff was very helpful. It is a spot to get away to quietness in a busy town. I highly recommend you stay in this B and B."
"The apartment was a finished basement with a tax office upstairs. Very quiet. Nice and cool downstairs. Beds were pretty comfy fresh baked brownies were waiting on us apon or arrival. So we're travel size soaps, shampoos, toothbrush and deodorant. The washer and dryer were a nice feature as well as the garage. Extremely happy and would stay again"
"Unique basement apartment, very clean and nicely furnished. Place was a great location for our family to base out of for trips to Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Theodore Roosevelt NP and a drive through Spearfish Canyon. As a owner of a couple of Chevy C10 Custom Deluxes, really got a kick out of the Custom Deluxe GM Frigidaire Stove!"
"The home is in fair condition for an older home and about what one should expect with the exception of the tub and shower. It is not acceptable and needs replaced. It is located on the top of a hill with great views of the mining pit. It was quiet and comfortable but needs some TLC."
"Comfortably fit our family of 6. Kitchen was nice and functional. Not much seating for eating but during warm weather, front porch would work good. WiFi and tv options were good. Easy location. Clean. "
