"Wonderful setting I must say! And the venue was well laid out with its ponds, etc. The rooms were drab, dark, old and small - it felt very crammed with all the furniture in it. There was a small fridge in the room, which was great, but there was no bottled water in the room and we had been told not to drink the tap water. The bathroom especially, was very poor - it had cracked tiles in the shower and weak water pressure, no shelves for toiletries, and the cistern took forever to fill up. We...

Bedding was clean and comfortable but it is down feathers, which is not good for travelers with allergies to that and the smoke. "We were greeted on arrival by the owner, who was extremely welcoming and hospitable. The room was extremely spacious and well appointed and the breakfast excellent. Dullstroom is evidently the highest town in South Africa at well over 2000 metres above sea level. As such it is somewhat cooler than most of the country and provided a welcome respite. We would have no hesitation in recommending Critchley Hackle and hope to return ourselves next year."

"Good stay. Anford was very accommodating and met the needs for a 1 nights stay. Close to Silver Sixpence where we attended a wedding. Convenient location. Breakfast was good. However over lunch on Saturday the kitchen was closed which was disappointing but it is the road from Milly Trout and Farm where we got some good quiche’s and sandwiches. "
