"Cozy family operated and wonderful staff. Stairs into our bathroom leaves me with accessibility concerns (they were inconvenient even able footed freshly out of a shower) but otherwise clean quiet and highly recommended - 5 minute walk to Yorkminster and the York city center and 10 minute walk to the train/bus station makes it ideal for travelers."

"Very disappointed with the volume of dogs in the property. No designated areas in restaurant and one particular dog was allowed to sit on the bench seating unchallenged by staff , very poor management intervention! All bedrooms apparently “dog friendly!” Was not a nice experience and will not be returning. Finally, where was the pool and spa facilities ? Certainly not in the hotel!"

"I stayed for 4 nights at the Holiday Inn in York. I was warmly greeted by the receptionist and was checked in quickly. As I don't use lifts, the receptionist arranged for my suitcase to be taken up to my room. My room, on the 2nd floor, was big and looked very clean. There was a double bed, 2 seater sofa, TV, plenty of hanging space but only 5 hangers, and tea/coffee making facilities. "Great stay"

"Personal choice but didn't like the evening menu choices and breakfast was good if poached eggs were cooked better. Mine still had the clear egg slime on them. Staff were brilliant even down to the housekeeping. Room we had was really lovely, modern and a good size. Lots of space in bathroom and a great shower. Free parking was a real bonus. Really enjoyed our weeks stay at golden fleece hotel"

"Dean Courtney is conveniently located directly opposite the Minster. It is a short 15 minute walk from the train station. I was concerned that the area would be noisy given the location but it wasn’t. We stayed in the Wolsey Room which was tucked away in a connected building accessed via a back stairway behind the restaurant reception. One flight up and no elevator. "Property was excellent value for money, a short walk outside York city centre. Room was more than adequate, clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was full English with possibly the largest piece of black pudding I've seen. The bar is well stocked and we ate there on our first night, food was good and reasonably priced. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Light Horseman and it will be top of our list for our next stop in the city."

"This Ibis is in a stunning old building with High Ceilings and Tall Windows. The natural light, and views were delightful. The design and detail throughout is Contemporary, well-designed and executed. The tile work in the bathroom was very artistic. All of the Desk staff were friendly, patient, and helpful. "The room was clean and tidy and easy location to find. Most of the staff were pleasant and helpful. Plenty of parking. The breakfast was good but there were no gluten free options out, I always had to ask"

"This is a beautiful hotel in all aspects! The breakfast was the nicest hotel I have had in a long while and I travel alot!! Perfectly situated for the coast, we visited Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay and whitby; and for York and Harrogate. Would definately stay here again if we find ourselves in that part of the country again!!"
